Masthead of Hindustan Times 2002 “Cyberdude Column”
Featured in Business World
I am a business and technology columnist. My technology column has appeared in India’s leading English daily, HindustanTimes since 2002. I currently write on Life & Technology for Business World. My stories have been featured in Tech Crunch, Business Week, USA Today, Digital Inspiration, Wired besides others. Over the last 12 years, I have written around 400 features on new developments in the technology space, corporate strategies of industry stalwarts such as Google, Microsoft and predicted game changing trends.
Amongst my favorite stories I have written are The Google versus Microsoft series of over 60 stories. My proudest moment has been breaking the story Gmail going Offline, before it happened, and that turned one of the the most read story for the day for the newspaper. It turned out to be a big story carried by most major newspapers and publications worldwide including New York Times, Tech Crunch, Business Week, USA Today amongst others, a story broken first by me. Another of my favorites is Why Google Sucks (One of my best stories ever on how we are creating a monopolistic monster without realizing this a closed commercial enterprise. The issues I have raised are valid even now. In the disguise of good will Google is doing a lot of things that are not right. Sad no one talks about them. I still love Google though!). The 3G Economy (This story talks about reverse migration and business models in small towns and villages remains one of my best social responsibility stories) and my first story I did 10 years Entrepreneurial Seduction has nostalgic value.
While I preach the importance of archiving to others a lot of my work is lost. puneet.im is a last ditch effort to save and archive some of my work.
